The American Urogynecologic Society was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of our 13th president, J. Thomas Benson, MD, on June 28th, 2008.

Dr. Benson quietly passed away on Saturday, June 28th at his home with
family. There are tentative arrangements for a memorial service on Saturday, July 26 at 7:00 pm at Eli Lilly Hall, Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center 450 W. Ohio Street Indianapolis IN 46202.
 
Dr. Benson was a wonderful person, physician, surgeon, and teacher.  He contributed much to the early success of AUGS and was a strong advocate and supporter of the development of our specialty.  He wrote more than 70 peer reviewed papers and edited several important books.  He was a leader in neurodiagnostics as related to pelvic floor disorders.  He was a champion for resident and fellow education and trained many of our members and leaders.  His fellowship at Methodist Hospital was the first accredited by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  

Dr. Benson's wife has asked not to be overwhelmed with flowers, but that instead individuals consider a donation to one of the two foundations:
