The Government Relations Committee has continued its focus on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and their policies affecting urogynecologists, specifically working with organized medicine to ensure Congress adopts policy changes for the 2008 Medicare physician payment schedule. The bill would aim to replaces cuts totaling over 15 percent with positive Medicare physician payment updates from July 1, 2008 through December 31, 2009. - Show your Support. Sign two Provider Advocacy Letters (word doc) alerting your U.S. Senators of your support for this bill. Please feel free to edit the form letter and add your own local touch and personal experience. Be sure to sign the bottom of the letter and include your full address and zip code at the top.

Once we receive your letters, we will take it from there. Below is a step-by-step road map to the advocacy process:
- Sort and Distribute. AUGS will sort all advocacy letters by state and match them with the corresponding Senators. The letters will then be hand delivered to the appropriate office in Washington DC.
- Report. Activity summaries, including the offices contacted, will be forwarded to AUGS leadership and the Government Relations Committee on a regular basis.
- Follow-up. The government relations team will launch follow-up activities with those congressional offices that have received constituent letters.
