Advocacy
AUGS’ Government Relations Committee works to ensure that policymakers in our nation’s capitol support education and research programs for female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. The Committee enhances the effectiveness of these efforts by educating members and working in collaboration with allied organizations, patient advocacy groups, and health care professionals.

The Government Relations Committee focuses efforts on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and their policies affecting urogynecologists, specifically working with organized medicine to ensure Congress adopts policy changes for the 2008 Medicare physician payment schedule. The advocacy program will continue to educate the AUGS membership about policies that may affect them and empower them to influence these policies.
