The 2008 AUGS Annual Scientific Meeting is fast approaching! The meeting will take place September 4-6 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers in Chicago, IL.
The AUGS Annual Scientific Meeting is designed to meet the needs of physicians, nurses, physical therapists, students, researchers, educators and other healthcare professionals interested in urogynecologic care and research. New treatment techniques and developments in both surgical and non-surgical settings will be shared through a variety of educational formats that will encourage discussion and idea sharing. Scientific material will be presented through oral, poster, video, and tips and tricks abstracts. AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM, continuing nursing education contact hours and physical therapy CEUs will be offered.
In addition to the regular meeting program, AUGS is also offering a Post-Graduate Course on Wednesday, September 3rd, designed specifically for healthcare professionals, entitled "Managing Pelvic Floor Dysfunction for the Healthcare Professional.” Course Directors are Rhonda Kotarinos, PT and Karen Sasso, NP and faculty include Jane Fellows, RN, MSN, CWOCN, Peter K. Sand, MD and Karen Sasso, RN, APN, MSN, CCCN.
This PG course will educate participants in a two-part session, morning and afternoon. The morning session will cover basic and advanced management strategies for bladder/bowel dysfunction (incontinence, constipation/diarrhea) and pelvic organ prolapse. The afternoon session will cover addressing the appropriate indications for referral to physical therapy for conservative management, perioperative management or pain management as they relate to the various pelvic floor dysfunctions.
