AUGS Offers New Leadership Program for Members

    By: Matthew D. Barber, M.D., M.H.S.

I am very pleased to announce a new AUGS initiative, the AUGS Leadership Program. This is a new program developed by the AUGS Membership committee in conjunction with the Board of Directors aimed to identify and promote future leaders of the Society with a special emphasis on junior members. The AUGS Leadership Program is designed to educate junior members on AUGS history, governance structure and what it means to be a volunteer leader. Our goal is to provide program participants with critical skills that will lead to a successful AUGS volunteer leader.

A curriculum has been designed by Dr. Deborah Myers, Past President and Dr. Adam Steinberg, Membership Committee Chair. The program is a two year commitment that will kick-off at the AUGS Annual Scientific Meeting in 2012. Leadership Program participants will have access to a senior mentor who was a prior AUGS leader.

This is an invaluable opportunity for AUGS junior members to participate and I encourage interested members to apply during our AUGS Annual Call for Volunteers that opens May 8th.
