Raymond A. Lee Endowment

The Raymond A. Lee Endowment is a named lectureship created by AUGS to honor one person annually who contributed to the development and surgical advancement of urogynecology and to further advance the knowledge and teaching of gynecologic surgery through ongoing AUGS educational programs.

Background Information
In August 2010, the Mayo Clinic and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology donated $25,000 to AUGS to establish a named lectureship in honor of Dr. Raymond Lee, a pioneer in urogynecologic surgery, as well as mentor and colleague to many AUGS members and leaders. With this lead gift, AUGS is proud to launch the Raymond A. Lee Endowment campaign, to ensure that Dr. Lee’s legacy will be remembered each year at the AUGS annual meeting through an honorary lectureship, as well as through other important initiatives affirming his contributions to the advancement of urogynecologic surgery.

Dr. Lee’s dedicated and illustrious career began at Indianapolis General Hospital and culminated at the Mayo Clinic. What Dr. Lee accomplished during those nearly 50 years in between is truly remarkable, including authoring more than 100 publications, helping form the subspecialty of urogynecology, teaching countless physicians, and changing the lives of women forever through his innovative and compassionate surgical advances. Through this endowment, a lectureship will be awarded annually, enabling AUGS meeting attendees to be inspired by Dr. Lee’s legacy and by the career contributions of future recipients. Recipients will receive an honorarium, travel, and lodging. As the endowment grows, additional activities advancing the knowledge and teaching of gynecologic surgery will be realized through the generous donations of those who proudly honor Dr. Lee’s memory.
