Global Health: Components of Ethical Work
Date: March 8, 2017
Time: 7 pm Eastern (6 pm Central, 4 pm Pacific)
Speakers: Joan Blomquist, MD
It is currently estimated that >200,000 Americans volunteer annually to participate in global health work at a cost of $250 million per year. 28% of ob/gyn residency programs now offer a global health elective and many FPMRS fellows show an interest in participating as well. As many of us contemplate if and how to incorporate global health into our FPRMS careers, we need to ensure involvement in an effective program with basic ethical practices. In this webinar, we will review components of ethical global health work including the importance of volunteer preparation, needs assessment, quality care, quality improvement, and building local capacity.
