    Resources for Fellows

AUGS/SGS Fellows' Research Network (FPRN): The purpose of the FPRN is to enable fellows to work together cooperatively and conduct multi-center pelvic floor research projects. This network is open to all fellows in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. Interested fellows from accredited and non -accredited programs across the United States and Canada are welcome to join. Fellows applying for membership in the FPRN must be prepared to be active participants in the network’s research activities. All members of the network will have the opportunity to be actively involved in developing, implementing, conducting, and publishing research studies. The network meets in-person twice per year at the SGS and AUGS annual meetings. Click here to become involved and learn about the current network projects.

We would like to encourage fellows and faculty advisors to attend the FPRN meeting at AUGS’ Annual Scientific Meeting (Wednesday, October 14th from 3-6pm) and request that you submit new study proposals before the meeting for review. The past FPRN meeting at SGS did not have any new proposals, so there is an opportunity to initiate several new studies. Those projects that are the most interesting, best developed and feasible will be selected through the voting process. Fellows that have research ideas, but are in need of assistance with project development, can contact the FPRN steering committee and the SGS or AUGS research committees. Junior and senior faculty mentors with similar research interest are willing and available to help with protocol development and can be assigned to new projects. Ideally, we would like to review new research proposals well in advance of the October 2015 meeting in order to provide feedback that will improve the chance of being selected as a FPRN study. We plan to hold a conference call approximately 2 months before the meeting to discuss current project status and new proposals. During this telephone conference, we will give feedback on all new projects so that fellows can make revisions before the in person presentations at the AUGS meeting.
