Quality Council

    Purpose: The Quality Council oversees all the quality-related regulatory issues and initiatives on behalf of AUGS and the subspecialty. The Council ensures the standard of care is defined in FPMRS and provides tools and resources for urogynecologists to track and measure their outcomes to improve patient care.

    Quality Committee

    Purpose: Support the work of the Quality Council by ensuring programs are in place to support the quality outcome needs of the FPMRS community.

    Composition: Chair and Vice Chair plus 6 to 8 additional members; additional members may be added to the committee as needed

    Time Expectations: Monthly conference calls; email communications as needed

    Ongoing Activities:

    • FPMRS measure development and maintenance
    • Responds to all quality related regulations
    • Coordinate the Society’s external liaisons to other professional and advocacy groups and maintain relationships with Government Relations branches of those external societies (NQF, NQRN, PCPI, etc.)
    • Identify quality improvement activities that qualify for MOC
    • Monitor the regulatory environment related to physician payment and ensure AUGS members are represented in physician payment discussions related to quality measure development and maintenance 
    • Work with other committees to advance these goals: Guidelines and Statements, Terminology, Education Council 

     

    Quality Improvement Registry

    Purpose: Support the work of the Quality Council by ensuring a registry platform exists for members to track FPMRS quality measures, as well as validate current measures, determine gaps in measures and measure testing. Currently this committee has a build work group that is overseeing the development of this registry. Once the registry is launched a formal committee will be created.

    Composition: Chair and Vice Chair plus additional members as needed.

    Time Expectations: Monthly conference calls; email communication as needed

    Quality Improvement and Outcomes Research Network (QI-ORN)

    Purpose: Inform future decisions in the development and maintenance of relevant FPMRS quality measures, clinical practice guidelines, appropriate use criteria and health care policy.

    Composition: 10 sites with a PI and co-PI

    Time Expectations: monthly conference calls; data entry/chart review as defined by the protocol

    Ongoing Activities:

    • Inform future decisions in the development and maintenance of relevant FPMRS quality measures, guidelines, appropriate use criteria and health care policy
    • Engage members in research to support measure development, implementation, and maintenance by providing them with opportunities to conduct multi-center projects focused on quality outcomes and safety.
    • Establish a cadre of AUGS volunteers who are quality experts.  
    • Establish a networking and mentoring community that supports and advances quality improvement and outcomes.
    • Develop clinical evidence and validate quality outcome measures for FPMRS with the intent of meeting the National Quality Forum (NQF) measure requirements
