Fellow Hands On Course 2025

February 13-14, 2025 | Tampa, Florida

This advanced surgery course is for fellows specializing in Urogynecology and/or Female Urology.  The goal of this course is to help fellows, already well versed in basic principles of pelvic surgery, who are looking to increase their surgical knowledge regarding anatomy and more complex vaginal and laparoscopic operations.

This cadaver course will focus on advanced pelvic anatomy surrounding topics such as Martius flaps, laparoscopic retropubic surgery, ureteral location and surgical management, prolapse repair (with and without graft augmentation), management of mesh complications, laparoscopic surgeries, neuromodulation, and botulinum toxin. Additional topics, with slight variation from year to year, will be covered by nationally recognized experts in the field of urogynecologic surgery and female urology.

This is a hands-on course focused on creating opportunities for interaction between the faculty and fellows. In addition to the didactic lectures and case-based discussions, there will three hours of cadaver labs each day to demonstrate surgical anatomy and techniques. Fellows will rotate in groups of 2 to 4 with each cadaver discussion lead by a dedicated faculty member. Fellows should approach the course as a way to gain exposure and knowledge regarding the aforementioned surgeries rather than expecting to individually complete a lengthy dissection or surgery on every cadaver.

At the conclusion of the course, participants will have expanded their knowledge and gained confidence in using minimally invasive surgical techniques to advance the care of their patients with difficult pelvic floor problems.
