AUGS participates with the American Medical Association as a member of the Specialty and Service Society (AMA SSS).
The Specialty and Service Society (SSS) provides a forum for collaboration among the medical specialties, professional interest medical associations (PIMAs), and the federal service branches to further promote the interests of its members within our American Medical Association and to serve as a resource to our AMA.
Of particular interest to AUGS is the opportunity to participate in sign on letters and advocacy initiatives related to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS). Coalition for Urologic Patients (CUP)
The CUP Coalition, led by the American Urological Association (AUA) unites patient advocates and physicians to advocate for policies that lower the barriers that limit urologic patients from accessing and choosing treatments, improve the coordination of care for urologic diseases, and increase research funding for urologic diseases. By speaking with one collective voice, we aim to make sure that decisions made by policymakers reflect the experiences and priorities of the urologic patient community.
Women First Research Coalition
AUGS is proud to be a member of the Women First Research Coalition (WFRC). WFRC advocates for the prioritization of the federal investment in women’s health research.
The Coalition and its members work together to raise awareness with federal policymakers, executive branch officials, and the public about the need for sustained and strengthened investment in women’s health research, the prioritization of research in conditions that are specific to women or those conditions that may present differently in women than men, to advance an equitable and appropriate investment in women’s health research that improves the health outcomes of women, and ensure an adequate women’s research workforce.
The purposes of WFRC are as follows:
- Advocate for the increased federal investment in women’s health research, including for obstetrics and gynecology.
- Support policies that ensure an adequate women’s health research workforce, including the participation of women in that workforce.
- Educate federal policymakers and federal executive branch officials about the need for sustained and strengthened investment in women’s health research, as well as the prioritization of research in conditions that are specific to women or those conditions that may present differently in women than men, to improve the health outcomes of women.
Women’s Health Empowerment Network (WHEN Coalition)
The Association for Pelvic Organ Prolapse Support (APOPS) is committed to dismantling silo walls in women’s healthcare to explore and expand meaningful, real-world solutions to insufficient women’s vaginal, pelvic, and intimate health awareness. Women experiencing urinary, defecatory, digestive, reproductive, vaginal, or vulval health ramifications suffer in silence for years, sometimes decades. It is long past time to lift the veil and engender open conversation, real-world support, and inspire solutions to renew quality of life for millions of women suffering in silence.
The Women’s Health Empowerment Network (WHEN Coalition) unites a unique women’s health ecosystem where advocacy meets action. Since 2014, WHEN has been minimizing silo wall barriers between patients, practitioners, researchers, academics, industry, and policymakers, to address critical gaps in pelvic organ prolapse and co-existing condition care.
