Looking Ahead: Education, Collaboration, and Advocacy in 2025

Dear friends and colleagues,

I am excited to start my official term as AUGS President and I look forward to what we will accomplish together this year.

Our members guide and drive this organization, and I am grateful for each and every volunteer who gives up time and energy for the cause. Volunteers help make up the 22 committees dedicated to advancing AUGS’ strategic plan supporting the future growth of our organization. I would like to welcome 59 new volunteers, including board members Drs. Robert Gutman (Vice President), Marcella Willis-Gray, (Board Member), and Jerome Yaklic (Treasurer). Additionally, I’d like to sincerely thank those whose terms have just ended. Your commitment, service, and hard work have made such a difference in every facet of our organization. A very special thanks to: Drs. Cate Bradley (Immediate Past President), Dobie Giles (Treasurer), and Gina Northington (Board Member). It has been a privilege working with you and thank you for your dedication.

Looking forward, we’ve heard the calls for content and the new year brings new educational and professional opportunities, including:

  1. Beginning in February, we will have a new four-part, complimentary webinar series designed to educate and empower physicians with financial tools and insights. AUGS and Generational Financial Partners, LLC have developed a series focusing on topics such as financial planning, risk management, and compensation strategies.
  2. The AUGS Clinical Meeting is back in person in Nashville TN, April 26-27, 2025. This year, the Clinical Meeting occurs immediately following Urogynecology for the Advanced Practice Provider (April 24-26) which creates an opportunity for collaborative attendance with physicians and their APPs. During the two-day weekend course, participants will be able to attend multi-faculty sessions that include panel discussions and debates.
  3. New topics are now listed in the monthly complimentary webinar series. These 60-minute presentations are led by widely renowned urogynecology professionals with time built in for discussion.

This year, AUGS is spending even more time and resources on advocating for our members and building a new strategic plan. More information will be forthcoming in the February President’s Perspective after our meeting dedicated as such.

Please renew your 2025 membership, if you haven’t already done so. AUGS is the home for all urogynecology professionals. It is with your support, engagement, and participation that we can fulfill our mission to drive excellence in the care for women with pelvic floor disorders. AUGS plays a pivotal role in allowing us to come together to exchange ideas, network, and advance the field of urogynecology. We are a community built on professional and personal relationships. On that, a personal note: some of our very own members have been tragically affected by the Los Angeles fires. Thank you for reaching out to myself and others in the area – texts, phone calls, and just checking in has lent a lot of comfort. Sincerely,Tanaz Ferzandi, MD, MBA, MAAUGS President[email protected]  Important Dates Jan. 22: Become the CEO of Your Life: How to build an Independent Private Practice | AUGS Webinar Feb. 5: New Year, Fresh Start: Financial Planning for 2025 | AUGS Financial Webinar March 3-14: Self-Assessment Fellows Exam (SAFE) Dates Mar. 6-7: Urogynecology: A Comprehensive Review Course April 24-26: Urogynecology for the Advanced Practice Provider April 26-27: AUGS Clinical Meeting
