Call for Commentary Writing Group Volunteers

AUGS is currently seeking volunteers to serve on a Writing Group to develop a Commentary on Evidence-Based Use of Onabotulinumtoxin A for Treatment of Pelvic Floor Myalgia. Support from AUGS staff will be provided.

This document will help advocate and support better reimbursement and coverage for the use of botox to treat patients with pelvic floor myalgia who have failed other treatment options.  Pelvic floor levator botox injection for levator tension, pelvic pain is commonly used in urogynecology but no guideline documents exist for dosage, injection mapping, etc. Furthermore, botox injections are not FDA approved for this indication, which affects access for patients and reimbursement. Botox injections are generally poorly reimbursed for urogynecologists despite better reimbursement for similar injections in other fields (ex: neurology for migraines, rehab for contractures).

AUGS is seeking a writing group chair and writing group members. Participation requires the following:

• regular communication via email
• monthly conference calls
• completion of assignments
• expected 6 months commitment
